Allie Klein, Founder: My current obsession is anything from from Wandering Workshop. Greek artisans, Athina and Jose, impeccably handcraft each piece. Their toys remind me to slow down, see possibilities and notice the details. Play Silksare an all-time favorite because they truly offer endless ways to play. This year, our friends at In the Willows created four limited edition play silks in stunning shades that I am in love with!
Amanda Klein, Creative Director: Apartment living has turned me into a very finicky toy buyer. I look for toys that can be used in many different ways, and also things that I don’t mind seeing on the floor of the living room everyday! The beautiful Tsumiki School Block Set fits the bill. A full set of alphabet blocks, as well as blocks with numbers, shapes, and symbols are housed in a school shaped box. There are thoughtful details like a school bus with magnetic parts and a clock with movable hands. My toddler son is delighted (over, and over again) to find that one of the blocks makes noise when you shake it!
Jason Zigelbaum, CTO: Top pick will always be Nou Nou The Bear by Bla Bla. To give you some background, I'm a bit of a plush bear expert; I had a bear from the ages of 0-8 that never left my side. His name was "Bear.” Now, at 31, I have a new bear, his name is "Nou Nou," and he checks all the boxes of the original and then some.
Arielle Welt, VP Sales & Marketing:We can’t get enough Twee Donut Chalk! The donut shape is easy for little hands to grasp, and allows for all kinds of imaginative play and conversations beyond the usual drawing. Both kiddos love painting, so the Buddha Board is always a go-to. Since you just add water (read: it’s mess free) I love how we can take painting anywhere in our house!
Lauren Vien, Education Director:Candylab Candy Cars and Vans are a family favorite! My son incorporates them into his block structures when creating parking garages, driveways, and road systems. They are also the perfect size for tucking into a backpack or pocket for on-the-go fun! Our family relies on the creative play invitations in the The Everyday Play Deck over and over again.
Kristen Ronan, Director of Communications: The Olli Ella Minichari Cross-Body Bag offers so many ways to play, and my daughters all love it! My oldest, 6 years old, uses it on the front of her bike for rides around the block…my second, 4 years old, loves it as a purse…my third, 21 months old, uses it as a picnic basket for her dolls, and my youngest, 4 months old, has one in her room which doubles as small toy storage.
