  • Description

When it comes to pandemic parenting, let this be your mantra: play is all we need. We’ve created this collection of bite-sized on-demand classes to help parents support every area of their baby’s development through play. These meaningful, at-home learning experiences check every developmental box, while enhancing the bond between you and your baby.

In each video class, we highlight a specific open-ended toy and explore how different types of play impact your baby’s development. (You’ll never look at a ball or bath toy the same way again!) As you play and learn together, you’ll gain actionable tips and language strategies, a repertoire of engaging songs, and a deeper understanding of your baby’s development.

We’ve structured these classes to highlight our top toy picks for Baby’s first year:
    Play Silks
    Balls
    Soft Blocks
    Bath Toys

You can use your own toys or shop our favorites here!

This course is led by Lauren Vien, Education Director and author of our bestselling Guide to Positive Language Strategies. • Play is okay! tip

Here's one of our favorite play experiences from Baby Play Basics:

    DISAPPEARING DUCK

Support your baby’s ability to understand object permanence: the concept that a person or object continues to exist, even when your baby can’t see it. During bath time, hide a familiar toy under a washcloth and ask Baby, “Where did your duck go?” Pause to give Baby an opportunity to search, gesture, or uncover the toy. You may need to uncover the duck yourself and say, “Here it is! The duck was under the washcloth.” You can do the same by gently pushing the bath toy underwater and watching it pop back up to the surface!
